The Happy Homeowner BlogHello everyone!

This post has been months, nearly a year, in the making and we’re excited to finally push that “publish” button.

For both new and old Happy Homeowner readers alike, welcome! There have been some tremendous changes happening behind the scenes of this site. And while the names and faces of ownership have changed, one thing remains the same: The Happy Homeowner is committed to being a positive, inspirational source for anyone looking to live a healthy, balanced life.

From personal finance resources (after all, that is how this site was born) to travel, homeownership, fitness, and everything in between, we have mountains of material to roll out over the coming months. Before we get to the content and direction we’ll be taking moving forward, we want to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves.

The three of us, Alex, Mark, and Noah, were personally selected by the site’s previous owner, Jen, to take the reins and direct the next phase of The Happy Homeowner. You can read more about each of us below:

Alex: The Debt-Laden Wanderlust

Hi, I’m Alex. Like Jen, I have an insatiable desire to see as much of the world as possible. Unfortunately, I don’t (yet) have the means or opportunities Jen did, but I do have a knack for affordable, international travel.

On the flipside, I’m sort of drowning in credit card debt. While not all of it has been wracked up through travels, it’s not something I want hanging over my head as I enter the next decade of my life (the big, bad 30s…whoop, whoop!). I was drawn to this site over three years ago because I appreciated Jen’s open candor and can-do spirit. Her posts were a refreshing, upbeat perspective on some of the most challenging aspects of life, and her positive nature was as clear as her message about living the life you’ve always dreamed of.

We had connected via email, found out we lived near each other (hello, small world!), and the rest is history. When Jen mentioned she was looking to pass the Happy Homeowner torch, I was stunned when she asked me to come on as a co-owner and contributor. Write for my favorite blog, let alone become a co-owner?! Sign me up!

Obviously, the decision was an easy one for me. Once the ink dried, we set out on a mission to meld our writing styles as best as possible (it was essential to Jen that these posts maintain the same kind of vibe and tone her readers had previously enjoyed). Over the course of a few months, we met, worked to build a backlog of posts with both my ideas and Jen’s influence, and ate far too many plates of mac & cheese.

So thank you for following along as I begin this new journey. I’ll be documenting my travels and my debt-payoff plans in addition to my professional pursuits. I look forward to sharing, as Jen would say, the good, the bad, and the ulgy. Stay tuned, new friends!

Noah: The BMW-driving DIY Enthusiast

Where do I begin with this? If there was ever a match made in heaven, it was Jen and I. We were friends for nearly 20 years and I can emphatically say that I had never met another person quite like Jen. Her energy, her positive nature, her smile; it was all good. The random things she’d say and the way she’d (sometimes awkwardly) dance around when she was excited about something (which was often). I could go on and on and on, but I’ll stop here and simply introduce myself.

Like Jen, I love a good sports car. While I’ve moved on to a new love affair with my Porsche, I connected over a mutual admiration for BMWs with Jen. Hell, I even dabbled in the performance driving she quickly became hooked on.

I’m also an avid DIYer who loves a good construction or home improvement challenge. I’m currently flipping my fifth house, so I’ll be sharing plenty about everything homeownership. I’ll also be adding to the BMW and car-related posts Jen has begun to publish.

I look forward to connecting with all of you, and I am thrilled to be part of the next chapter of The Happy Homeowner!

Mark: The Marathoning Monster

Hi everyone, I’m Mark. I’m a seasoned ultra-marathoner (I met Jen during the North Face Endurance Challenge 50-miler). From the regular 26.2 to the 100-mile madness of Badwater, I’ve been around the endurance running block a few times.

I’m looking forward to sharing my fitness and running stories, general wellness tips, and more content surrounding the central theme of this site, living a healthy, balanced life one cent at a time.

Not one for introductions, I’ll stop now. However, before I sign off from the post, I have to say how thrilled I am to be part of the team. This site has a lot of potential, and I have no doubt we’ll be able to grow it as Jen had originally envisioned. Check back for frequent updates as we’re officially in publishing mode!

**We purposely chose to publish this post on Christmas as it was Jen’s favorite holiday. We hope all of you and your loved ones are enjoying a fabulous holiday. We’ll be back soon with our new content, and we can always be reached at TheHappyHomeownerTeam (at) Gmail (dot) com. For those bloggers, editors, marketers, and advertisers that have the old contact information from Jen, we’re still monitoring all of that as well. Please bear with us as we finalize the transition over the coming months!**
